The weather forecast for the weekend was for rain on Saturday followed by rain and high winds on Sunday.
The forecasters certainly got it right for the Saturday morning as we set off from Fazeley ...
... and by the time we got to Huddlesford junction it was really tipping it down.
However by the time we got to Fradley it was beginning to ease off ...
... so Rick got out from the warmth of the back cabin to steer again.
That evening we stopped at Armitage next to the 'Plum Pudding' which although serves nice beer was a bit upmarket food (& price) wise so we then went to the pub opposite which is a bit of a 'Berni' type pub but did reasonable food and good beer.
After a night of gales (the wind, not the beer) and heavy rain the morning was dry and bright, here we are going through the opened up tunnel at Armitage.
Crossing the River Trent Aqueduct near Rugeley.
The Trent valley was initially open ...
... then gets wooded.
The canal and river are very close for quite a distance.
Colwich Lock
Luckily the weather forecasters were wrong and the weather stayed bright if cold.
Great Haywood
Entering Haywood Lock Under The Bridge To Shrugborough Hall
We were delayed at Great Haywood Junction by a broken down boat
Tunji looking cool, as was the temperature.
We left the boat just above Sandon Lock, the locals seemed very friendly.
