I met the boat at Hilgay on the River Whissey, this picture was taken upstream of there and we have just passed a sugar refinery.
This gillotine is used to divert floodwater into a cut off channel in times of flood (there is another one to the left which controls the wier into the cut off channel.
We have just gone over the aqueduct over the cut off channel, a rare example of a river going over an aqueduct.
Moored at Stoke Ferry (No pub- butcher delivers on Thursdays!)
The river above Stoke Ferry, don't believe the guides, rou can turn above above the bridge.
We then went back to the Ouse and then on to the Little Great Ouse (Brandon Creek) where this photo was taken.
Brandon Lock which is the limit of navigation to boats over 40 foot long.
Moored below Brandon Lock, it is possible to wind a 70 foot boat here.
We then went back to the Ouse and then up the River Lark where we visited the Prickwillow Pumping Engine Museum, well worth a visit. This photo shows us moored at Prickwillow.
